Ofsted Report
Baysgarth School was visited by Ofsted Inspectors on May 23rd and 24th. Under the new inspection approach, schools have to judge how well they are doing, show they know their priorities to continue to improve, and demonstrate their ability to bring this about.
Mr Saywell, Headteacher, said: "The Inspectors found that we had judged ourselves accurately and agreed with us that we are an improving school where pupils make the progress they should."
Inspectors found the school's curriculum to be good, the extra-curricular activities outstanding, pupils feel safe and enjoy coming to Baysgarth. The vast majority of pupils are well-behaved. The school is well led and managed effectively by the Headteacher and senior staff.
Ofsted recognise the progress made at the school during the past two years but judge the school needs to develop its good practice even further. To do this the school will work to continue to improve teaching and learning, so raising attainment of its pupils and develop further the strategies it has in place to address the unsatisfactory behaviour of a minority of pupils.
Mr Saywell went on to say "We are very pleased with the report, reflecting the current stage of Baysgarth in its development. The inspectors agreed we know our priorities to become even better, this is happening and we have the capacity and desire to improve even further. We hope you also feel this upon reading our report and look forward to working with us even more so in the years ahead to continue the good work. I will be arranging a discussion evening with our Parent Teachers' Association to consider the Ofsted Report in more detail, along with the introduction of Houses and Academic Review days. In the meantime, if you feel there are issues you wish to talk through in relation to the Ofsted report, please do not hesitate to contact me at school and I, or one of my senior colleagues, will be happy to help."
