DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN

We are looking to appoint a creative, enthusiastic and hard working team player who is willing to learn new skills to complement our team in the Design Technology department. The applicant must have excellent workshop skills and be able to make a significant, positive contribution to the work of the faculty. Although experience in any or all of the main job areas would be an advantage, training is available and we are more concerned with appointing the right candidate with the right attitude.
Baysgarth School is an 11-18 comprehensive with approximately 850 pupils on roll, including 53 in the 6th Form. The Design and Technology department teach a range of subjects including Engineering, Electronics, Product Design, Graphics, Catering and Systems and Control and the Technician’s role is to provide support for this busy department in a wide variety of ways resulting in an interesting and challenging job.
The person appointed will provide a support service to the teaching staff within the Technology Faculty. A large part of the job will be the operation and maintenance of Computer Aided Machinery (CAM) including a laser cutter and a computer controlled router and engraver. This will also require the use of 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications to control the CAM as well as Microsoft office applications for record keeping, etc.
Other typical tasks will include the preparation of a wide variety of materials including wood, metal, plastics and printed circuit boards; ensuring tools and machinery equipment are in good working order; maintaining stock levels and ordering resources when appropriate. Our top priority is to appoint someone with initiative and the right personal qualities and skills to make a significant contribution to the team effort; training and development will be an integral part of the role.
The role is for 37 hours per week, term time only + 10 days.

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of English. This post will be suitable for an NQT or more experienced teacher, and we are keen to appoint someone who is an enthusiastic, innovative and energetic teacher committed to continuing to raise the standards of the department, so building on the progress made over the past 2 years. They should enjoy working with young people and have the flair, energy and ability to bring the best out of them. The role is to teach KS3, 4 and 5; the teaching groups will be discussed with the successful candidate.
