Gifted and Talented Pupils

Gifted and Talented Pupils

Baysgarth School is committed to ensuring every student achieves their potential, including those identified as Gifted and Talented. These students are identified as approximately the top 5% of students within their year group in comparison to other students. Students are selected using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods; teacher observation, questionnaires, assessments and levels. Students may also be identified if they have a talent in a specific area i.e. playing an instrument, drawing or football.

Gifted and Talented Pupils

Students identified as Gifted and Talented are given extra opportunity to develop their ability and to strengthen the core skills that underpin their talent, this is done through; extra opportunity in lesson, workshops, trips, activity days, talks and mentoring.

Students also get the opportunity to raise their aspirations through trips to Oxford and Cambridge universities, Outward Bound trips, Engineering Challenges, Young Enterprise, Work Experience, Multi Skills Academies and a variety of other extension activities.

Gifted and Talented Pupils

Students are pushed to use core Gifted and Talented skills; Physical, Creative, Cognitive, Social and Personal. These skills underpin the abilities of a Gifted and Talented student and lessons are often tailored to develop these key areas.

The school strives to provide the best support possible for Gifted and Talented students and has a policy which it follows, highlighting the Identification, Monitoring, Provision and Intervention processes.
