Ofsted Report

Following a recent visit, HMI Headon judged we have made satisfactory progress in addressing the areas for improvement since the inspection of last year. This means we have made the progress expected in the timescale given. In the light of the progress we have made so far, we are delighted with her findings, particularly the acknowledgement by HMI Headon that challenging targets are in reach and the progress of our pupils against results nationally (attainment) will certainly improve this summer. The exam results our Y11 youngsters have achieved so far, combined with projections from tracking their progress give every indication this will be the case. The staffing stability in Maths and English has made a significant contribution to the progress achieved during the past and present terms.

The June 2009 report together with HMI Headon’s recent letter are available on the two websites at www.ofsted.gov.uk and here.

Officially, our next formal inspection should be in the second half of the summer term but in the light of the progress made by our pupils it could occur any time between June and October. Needless to say we are all focused and working hard to ensure we continue to build upon the progress and success achieved to date to obtain a commendable report after the next inspection.

If you should wish to discuss HMI Headon’s letter please do not hesitate to contact either myself or a senior colleague at the school.
