Key Stage 5 Product Design – Resistant Materials Technology

A-level Product Design is an exciting and challenging course which will develop your creativity and practical problem solving skills. The work is divided into 4 units across the 2 years:

PE

Unit 1 (AS-level):

In this coursework unit you will have the opportunity to develop your creative, technical and practical skills through a series of product investigation, design and manufacturing activities.

Unit 2 (AS-level):

In this examination unit you will develop your knowledge and understanding of a wide range of materials and processes used in the field of design and technology.

PE

Unit 3 (A2-level):

In this examination unit you will develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of modern design and manufacturing practices and contemporary design issues.

Unit 4 (A2-level):

In this unit you are given the opportunity to apply the skills that you have acquired and developed throughout this course of study to design and make a product of your choice that complies with the requirements of a Resistant Materials project. You are encouraged to be creative and adventurous in your work.


Product Design is a rewarding course which will develop skills in creative problem solving, presentation and investigation; all of which are relevant for a wide range of career paths.
