The school had a very successful run in the district football competitions in all years. The Year 7 & 9 boys’ teams were able to reach the semi finals of the Plate Competition and the Year 10s narrowly missed out in their Cup Semi Final defeated at the hands of Thomas Sumpter. Mr Sprakes’ Year 8 side did reach the final but unfortunately lost 1-0 in a hard fought battle with Foxhills.

The Year 7 Girls’ Hockey team have been working hard to develop their skills and represented the school commendably in 5 matches. They were able to win two of their matches and draw one, showing that they have the ability to be a strong side for the future.

The Cross Country Season resulted in a good number of Baysgarth students making the District team. Liam Coleman (17th), Jack Holland (28th), Sean Plaskitt (21st), Sam Derbyshire (25th), Paul Chapman (16th) and Megan Bell (28th) all ran in the Schools’ County Championship, at the YMCA in Grimsby. Liam Coleman and Paul Chapman performed well enough to make the county team for a match in York. Liam raised his performance against a good field and finished in an impressive 15th, whereas Sixth Former Paul Chapman finished strongly taking 28th place in his race.

The Cricket and Rounders seasons have just begun and matches have already started. The Year 8 Cricket team lost to Humberstone; however the Year 10 side was able to overcome North Axholme with only two balls to spare!
Four Girls’ teams travelled to Sir John Nelthorpe School for a Rounders Match. Although Years 8 and 10 were defeated, Years 7 and 9 were able to keep things level with victories in their matches.

Mr Brice and Mr Salisbury’s Rugby sides have performed well. The Year 7 side came fourth in a hugely attended event at Heslam Park, losing only one of their six matches. The Year 10’s also performed well, finishing second in their tournament.
